With titles like NOVA and Infinity Blade coming out on mobile phones, this is just going to get bigger in the coming years. As people continue to justify the validity of paying $60 for video games, mobile gaming will continue to get bigger and bigger. The same goes for social gaming as well. Some smartphones (iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S3) can play older console games with ease, and with a controller. Plus the entry cost for mobile games is so small compared to console games ($5-10 vs. $40-60).
So from a price perspective, customers want cheaper games. The large publishers are struggling to find out how to compete better with mobile and social gaming companies. Its going to be interesting to watch over the next few years.
