I kind of agree with him. I think that the industry is suffering from
 deja vu heavily. Companies compete to make the exact same game. There 
is no innovation anymore. Gone are the days when you used to see many 
different types of games that delivered varied experiences. Now games 
are lumped into buckets (zombies, alien invasions, war, fighting, sc-fi 
adventure). What happened to platformers, side scrollers, space 
simulations or puzzle games (not counting Portal)?
I think
 that people are bored with console offerings, which is why they are 
leaning towards social games. But those folks are now seeing that social
 games don't provide the depth that console/PC games used to have.  
Studios also seem to be looking at creating more wow factor 
games, than memorable experiences. Worry about pushing top notch 
graphics instead of gameplay.
