Next gen game dev costs to increase

I'm sure that already struggling game studios, didn't want to hear this news. I think that this is a given, with the level of hardware that is expected in the next gen systems. What would be great, would be for the big three (Sony, MSFT, Nintendo) to find a way to leverage technology that is already out or that has been out for about 1-2 years. That way costs will be a bit lower for the overall system. Of course, the companies still need to make a profit as well. I'm sure that the companies are already doing that.

But, even if the costs stay the same, I think that items such as DLC and in game items to purchase are here to stay. This seems to be the way that the companies can offset their development costs and keep the ball rolling for creating new features and content for games. Most gamers are ok with DLC, as long as they feel that they are not being raked over the coals with the pricing of it (ahem.. Mass Effect).

We have a few weeks before the Wii U makes its public debut and hopefully 6-9 months before we see the next iterations of the PS and MSFT systems.
