Sony is not going along with EA and the social/mobile gaming companies in saying that Free to Play is the answer long term. I think this makes for an intersting argument about the real long term validity of this business model. Sony also believes that Free to Play is just another business type, but EA is claiming that it will be the premier one. The playing field is still pretty wide open in regards to what will be successful long term. No matter what, people still are ok with paying for a decent game. We have seen the quality of many Free to Play games get diminished from their pay to play counter parts.
Time will tell if EA or Sony are correct.
