Very interesting. I wonder how companies like EA, Nexcon, Kabaam and Zynga will react? I think that this model is much more sustainable, as the article states. Since players will have an upfront fee that allows them to buy goods and play the game, it may be an easier way for players to stay with the games for a much longer timeframe than they do now. This model may work better for smaller games trying to gain a footprint, but it will be interesting to see if it can be applied to the larger social gaming companies.
Perhaps having a tiered system that allows a certain amount of goods, per level, will work.
