Do you play video games at all Michael?

He seems to be constantly putting his foot in his mouth. I'm not surprised really, especially since I used to do stock research. Granted your viewpoints are based on making predictions on trends and products 6-12 months in the future. Sometimes they pan out, sometimes they don't. I wonder if the game press just interviews him for fun, seeing as how many gamers on most game sites, hate his guts and views. Also makes you wonder why we never really hear from any other game analysts as much as we do from Mr. Pachter. The article is a summary of the [a]listdaily full article of the interview, which is at the bottom of the page. The comments are probably more interesting than the article itself.

I do agree with him that there should be some concerns on the next gen console pricing and the survivability of game studios in general. Personally, I think that the games should stay in the $40-60 price range for new games, and more lesser quality games should be at the lower end of that range. It may lead ot more purchases. You can't tell me that a game such as Ninja Blade is as good as Ninja Gaiden. I'm sorry, it is not. Also, many gamers are going to be reluctant to pay for a system that is $400 or greater, when many are just starting to buy the Kinect and Move systems. So fall 2013 makes perfect sense for the new Xbox and PS systems to come out. Since the Wii is so basic, the Wii U launching in the fall is good for Nintendo fans. Just as long as it won't break the bank of their casual consumers.
